There is no doubt Internet Download Manager is one of best options for downloading any file, video etc. from internet. But I have faced a lot of trouble with IDM.

 Internet Download Manager gives you the ultimate download speed possible for your bandwidth. It downloads files in parts using different connections to provide you fastest download speed possible. While downloading it uses almost whole of your bandwidth. So, downloading and surfing simultaneously is slow and annoying.

I have a bandwidth of 1.5 MBps from my ISP. So, while downloading a file, I used to get very less bandwidth for surfing. I was irritated with this slow surfing due to IDM. Eureka! I was struck by the idea to get rid of it, ‘the speed limiter’. So simple it was! It was always in front of my eyes but I never noticed it. I just set the Speed Limiter in IDM to 120 kb/s and all done.

Another thing that I have noticed in IDM, it starts downloading the file immediately in background while we get the pop-up for download confirmation. So, it uses your internet data in background and if you cancel the download, all you internet/3G data gets wasted. It is troublesome for the people belonging to poor countries where internet & 3G data is costly and limited.

Then, how to solve this problem? Nothing is impossible, especially in Internet Download Manager. Just go to Options and under the Downloads tab Unmark “Start downloading immediately while displaying ‘Download File Info’ dialog”.
